China Drying Network News BASF announced that it will invest 60 million euros to expand its polytetrahydrofuran (PTMEG) production capacity from 185,000 tons/year to 250,000 tons/year. In addition, BASF also increased its production efficiency to ensure the supply of raw materials for polytetrahydrofuran production. BASF has five PTMEG production facilities all over the world. Since 1983, polytetrahydrofuran has been produced at the integrated Ludwigshafen base. Now it has factories in Louisiana, Ulsan, South Korea, and China. BASF said that this move is to meet the steady growth of the Asia-Pacific region with the highest growth rate in the PTMEG market. Polytetrahydrofuran is mainly used in the fields of elastic spandex fiber, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) hose, film and cable sheathing.
